Description

This stylish cast iron teapot (kyusu) with traditional Itome pattern is produced by Oiharu, one of the representative Nambu Tekki (Nanbu ironware) foundries in Oshu city, Iwate prefecture, Japan. The teapot is enameled inside for easy use/care (there is no elution of iron).

Type: Nambu Tekki (Nanbu ironware): Nambu tekki has two production centers with different origins and characteristics in Iwate prefecture, Japan:
- Morioka city with about 400 years of history generally produces arts and crafts.
- Mizusawa (in Oshu city) with about 950 years of history primarily creating daily living wares such as pots and pans.
Nowadays ironware products made in both areas are referred to as Nambu Tekki and are known for their practicality and artistry.

Care
- Rinse it out with warm water before using it for the first time.
- Do not use in microwave, oven or over an open fire.
- Watch out for burns in and after use of the teapot.
- Use a pot mat in and after use to avoid stains.
- Dry the entire teapot thoroughly after use.

Inside: Remove the tea strainer and wash it with water. Wash inside the teapot with water using a soft sponge or simply wipe with a soft dry cloth. Do not wash with scrub brush, abrasive or in a dishwasher.
Surface: Gently rinse with water and wipe with a soft dry.
